Isles vs. Jets Pre-Game - A Trap Game?

The Islanders will probably need to improve their regular season points-performance (79 or less in each of the last five years-excluding the lockout) by at least 26 points if they are to make the post-season.

Defensive Woes Continue: New System or Same Problems?

While the Islanders’ 7-5 win over the Dallas Stars was a very exciting game to watch from an offensive standpoint, it was almost equally as unbearable to watch from a defensive standpoint.

Frans Nielsen's Hat Trick Leads Isles To 7-5 Win Over Dallas

The New York Islanders hosted the visiting Dallas Stars tonight at Nassau Coliseum, hoping to take advantage of a team that played on the road last night. They may not be able to say that they did just that, but Frans Nielsen's hat trick helped propel the Islanders to a 7-5 win on home ice.

The first period started with a quick tempo pace from both teams, as they both got plenty of chances early in the game. Chad Johnson was forced to make a sprawling save on a breakaway, and Anders Lindback had plenty of traffic in front for the first twenty.

The traffic in his crease would eventually lead to the first goal by the Isles. Brock Nelson fed the puck to Calvin de Haan at the far side of the Stars’ blue line before letting go of a wrist-shot that was redirected behind Lindback by Anders Lee for his first goal of the year.

The NHL's Bearded Lady

On October 11, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Albany Devils played the first shoot-out under the new rule and like their parent club in 1983 they won. It was the perfect storm of what might happen under the new rule and thankfully both teams survived intact.

Ledecky and Malkin To Be Introduced as New Isles Owners

A few weeks ago the New York Islanders sale was officially approved by the NHL Board of Governor, making Scott Malkin and Jonathan Ledecky joint owners with Charles Wang until they take over the majority share before the 2016-2017 season.

Today the organization will be introducing Ledecky and Malkin to the media as the team’s new owners.
