On The Couch: Trade Deadline Coverage

In this installment I discuss my take on why the Islanders should look to trade Kyle Okposo to the L.A. Kings for Dustin Brown. And with the trade deadline less than 48 hours away, what should GM Garth Snow do with P.A. Parenteau and Evgeni Nabokov? All that and more in this week's edition of On The Couch!

Would try to keep P.A. Parenteau and Evgeni Nabokov. Kyle Okposo is doing nothing for me this season and seems invisible most of the time. The defense is awful and the scorers just aren't scoring. Getting really tired of hearing the same old excuses. Where's the pinch ins, wheres the hustle and determination. I just dont get it. I also dont get the fact that this team has been like this for a long time now, and there is nothing that is being done. Here's a clue. Get some players that at least try to score. Crash the net if you have to. Keep the opposing team from setting up in your own zone. Make them pay when they come close to shooting. Why is it that most other teams do it. Why is it that the management staff thinks that this team is good enough. They need help. Even a layman can see this. Why don't the powers that be see it. I tell you what. I have been a fan since 72, saw my first game in that season. Spent countless paychecks coming to games, going to draft parties, buying merchandise, paying for sports channels that have Isles hockey. I'm getting so so sick of the excuses, of the false pretensions that this team is one that could go all the way. If your not going to try to build a team to win a Stanley Cup, why play the game? Getting really sick of this. You have half a team that could be good, even really good. Unfortunately, you have the other half that just is not what this team needs. The problem is finding which ones they are. If you dont know who they are, maybe the people looking should be replaced as well. While it kills me to say this, and given that I cant stand the Rangers, there is a reason that they are in 1st. Damn it Islanders. Wake up already!
