This Is The Big One: Isles Take on Bruins
This afternoon's game IS the biggest game of the season for the Isles. The Islanders take on the Boston Bruins, one of the best teams in the NHL this season. Bruins' goalie Tim Thomas hasn't had the season he had last year for the B's, but nonetheless, he has been pretty good. Not to mention the Bruins' offense, which is always on the mark.
The biggest factor in today's game that I'm looking forward to is watching Nino Niederreiter play with Okposo and Cizikas. This will be Niederreiter's 1st game back since the Rolston and Mottau deal. Niederreiter is playing on that line since it was announced that Michael Grabner will be out with some sort of illness.
Going back to Rolston and Mottau, Rolston is the lineup for Boston, it hasn't been announced whether Mottau is playing or not. Rolston hasn't had any points yet for the defending Stanley Cup champs, but he has had 2 penalty minutes in each of the two games he did play for them so far. Mottau has only played one game, and registered a shot in that game.
It's Nabokov in the net today, to no one's surprise. With Montoya still injured, Nilsson will be backing up Nabby. Nilsson has been incredible for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season, who have been on fire as of late, as well as Poulin. I'm not going to touch on the Sound Tigers anymore, I'll leave that up to Mike Flannery (@HockeyFlan)
The Isles are eight points out of the eighth spot right now and cannot afford to not gain points in their last remaining games. The Isles always seem to keep up with the Bruins whenever they faceoff, so hopefully they can do it today and come out with at least a point.
