Islanders Set To Continue Winning Ways in Toronto
John Tavares. John Tavares. John Tavares. John Tavares.
Now that I have the name John Tavares implanted into your brain, I will now tell you why it should be there: JT is currently riding an 12 game point streak with includes 8 goals and 13 assists over that span.
While Tavares looks to continue his scoring ways, Evgeni Nabokov gets the nod for the Isles. If Nabby wasn't such on a fantastic run, I'd say put Montoya in considering he hasn't played since he has come off the IR...but that's not the case.
Tonight, the Isles take on the Toronto Maple Leafs. A team at 23-19-5, they have been helped by their star forward Phil "The Thrill" Kessel. Kessel has 50 points in 47 games this season (25 goals, 25 assists) and is a candidate for MVP.
Starting between the pipes for the Leafs is Jonas Gustavsson. Gustavsson, better known as "The Monster" to Leafs fans, is 14-10 in 25 games played this season.
The Leafs are a tough team and have found a real knack for putting pucks in the net this season. Especially from forward Joffrey Lupul who has more than 20 goals this year.
The Islanders will have a lot on their plate tonight with this Maple Leafs squad and I'm predicting a high scoring game. These two teams will strike on offense but lack on defense and I think that will be the difference in this one.
Personally, I would like to see the Islanders take more shots from the point tonight. What's the worst thing that can happen? Your shot gets blocked? Big deal. Look for a deflection. Crazy things always happen when the Isles and Leafs play.
