Pivnick's Picks 1/25/12

As the Islanders reach the NHL's halfway point, they hit the All-Star break at 19-22-7. There are still 34 games remaining and the Isles need to come out more than strong in the second half.

Now, for this week's edition of "Pivnick's Picks". I've decided to add a new segment; It's called "A Blast From The Past". Basically, it will be a video clip from previous Islanders seasons. It will be everything from a big save, a huge goal, a tremendous fight, or even a funny webisode such as today's.

Now onto the action.

From The Checking Line:

Rob McGowan:

- "On The Offensive: Isles Evaluations". Rob evaluates the Islanders offense over the first half of the season.

- "Islanders Get Raked By The Leafs, 4-3 In Overtime". Rob recaps the Islanders OT loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs and voices his opinion on the game.

John Madonia:

- "Home Ice "Leaf"vantage". John recaps the Islanders tough 3-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Mike Flannery

- "A Disservice to the Sound Tigers". Mike discusses the "three stars" of the Sound Tigers recent eight game winning streak.

John Link:

- "Islanders Prospect Report: College Edition". John reports on the Islanders prospects that are currently playing College Hockey.

Erol Bal:

- "Injured Reserve and on the couch". No video today from Erol since he is under the weather, but basically it's his web series "On The Couch" but in text form! Enjoy!

From Around The Web;

Check out Islanders Hockey Blog's Christian Arnold recapping the Islanders 2-1 OT win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

In this week's "Blast from the Past", we take you back to 2008. If you're not familiar with Islanders assistant equipment manager, Richard "Shakey" Krouse, you will be after "Shakin' It Up With Shakey". In this episode of "Shakin' It Up", Shakey is on a quest to get Season Two of his hit web show back on Islanders TV and he has some demands before it hits the web.
