NY Islanders Open 3 Game Road Trip in Ottawa
I was always taught as a child, the old adage, if you have nothing good to say then say nothing at all. I just cannot do that today as I give you this pre Senator's game report. The game against the Flyers was an abomination, horrific, worst I have seen lately or EVER.
I live tweet 95% of the games, home or away. As I did not want to annihilate my NY Islanders, I gave up mid way through the second period. Isles history tells us that afternoon games are not our forte, but seriously this was abysmal.
That being said, I love my Islanders. One of my greatest wishes is for the younger fans to see a Stanley Cup victory, as I had four, that I cherish. I will never give up! I truly believe that this currant team can jell like the boys in the early 80's.
Anyhow, getting to the Islanders vs. Sens. The Senator’s are coming off a shootout win at the Prudential Center against the NJ Devils. So, Sens and Isles both have to fly to Ottawa for today's game. Who made this schedule?
Tonight the Isles open a 3 game road trip at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. The Isles have an overall record of 6-9-1. However, they have a good road record of 4-2-1. Ottawa has an overall record 0f 8-6-2, and their home record is 5-1-2. This should provide for a good match up.
The Islanders will be missing D Brian Strait who broke his ankle in yesterday's loss. Bad news for the Isles, as Strait has been one of the more reliable defense-men. Radek Martinek has been reactivated from IR, however will not be in tonight's line-up according to NY Islanders projected lines.
Ottawa will be missing 2 of their key players. Jason Spezza (back surgery) has no timetable for return. Erik Karlsson, who had his Achilles tendon lacerated last week after a hit from Matt Cooke, will be out for the season. This could be a career ending injury, which is sad to say, however it is way too early to know that. (Photo: bobfina72/flickr)
Here's to hoping that the Isles can put yesterday's disaster of a game behind them. It was that kind of game. Don't watch it, don't keep reliving it; Just move on...to Ottawa. (photo: bobfina72/flickr)
Let's Go Islanders!!
