The Kings Visit Long Island for the Only Time This Season

The LA Kings travel to Long Island this afternoon for their only match up of the season against the Islanders. Both teams are looking to rebound from losses in their last games. Last season these teams met twice splitting the series. Both teams seem to be making a strong late season push which makes for a good match up.

The Islanders need to rebound from a bad performance last time out against the Canadians and pull out a win. The Islanders will still be short on defense with Hamonic and Reese still out. Capuano also said to expect some changes to the D pairings from the last game. Capuano also stated that he might change the line-up spots for Parenteau and Okposo.  This would re-unite the line of Moulson, Tavares, and Parenteau which had such strong success earlier in the season. The starting goalie is also being kept under wraps until closer to game time, I would expect Montoya to get a start but you never know with Capuano. The Islanders do play another game tomorrow so I would expect Nabokov and Montoya to split the two games.

This game also brings the return of Trent Hunter to Long Island, as he plays in his first game on Long Island since being traded this off-season. Check out John Madonia’s article on Trent from a few days ago to learn more about how his season is going and how he got to the Kings. This game also brings another match-up between the brother-in-laws of Jonathan Quick and Matt Moulson. Last time out Moulson won the match-up by putting two goals in against Quick. With Quick expected to start look for this to be a fun match-up during the game with bragging rights on the line.

The Islanders will also honor Kenny Jonsson in a pre-game ceremony as they inducted him into the Islanders Hall of Fame. Make sure to get to the arena early to see all the fun. Also make sure you are ready for the start of the game as it is an afternoon start at 1pm.

As always thanks for reading and feel free to comment below. Go Islanders!
