Streaks End, Streaks continue
The Bridgeport Sound Tigers had their streak of minutes played without allowing a goal end Sunday afternoon in the second period of their game against the Providence Bruins. Just over three minutes into the period, a shot got past goalie Kevin Poulin stopping the streak at 224 minutes.
Two other streaks, however, continue. The Sound Tigers notched their season best 4th consecutive win with a nice 3-2 shootout victory over the Bruins. Solid in the exhibition period, four Sound Tigers; Sean Backman, Tony Romano, Kael Mouillierat and Scott Howes each scored. In a post game interview with Mike Fornabaio of The Connecticut Post reports, "Poulie can't stop everything," Romano said. "We've got to fight for him the way he's been fighting for us." Romano, Poulin's roomate here in Milford has been doing his part with four goals in the last six games.
The last streak, one all fans would like to see end, is the rash of injuries plaguing the Islanders and Sound Tigers alike. In the third period of the game, Isles prospect and the Sound Tigers lone representative to the Jan. 29-30 AHL All Star Game, Calvin deHaan left the ice after an awkward fall favoring his left arm. With evaluation and results scheduled for Monday we can only hope it is not serious.
I will be attending a booster club sposered dinner with the team on Tuesday evening and will provide any updates I can. I will also be happy to ask players any questions you may have, just leave a note in the comment section.
