A Letter To Our Readers

UPDATE: The new website is up and running! Head over to TCL Isles via this link, or via the navigation bar above, to check it out and join the discussion!!

To our loyal readers at The Checking Line,

As most of you may know by now, there has been plenty of discussion about the launching of an Islanders sub-site here at The Checking Line, much like the one that is run by Mark Trible and his team of writers that cover the Philadelphia Flyers. Their staff brings you anywhere from two to three Flyers blogs a day with complete pre and post-game coverage for all 82 games.

And now the wait is over as the Islanders sub-site will be launched tomorrow. Our staff currently has six writers including myself, Brian Bock, Evan Pivnick, John Madonia, Ken Dick and Chris Hessel. Our team of writers are dedicated to bringing you the best coverage of the New York Islanders with featured stories, interviews, game reports and more.

Ken and Chris are the two newest writers to join our staff and are members of the NYI Blog Box with myself as well. The three of us are credentialed bloggers who have a strong relationship with the organization. With our ability to gain access to press-conferences, practices and post-game interviews, we will aim to provide the most in-depth coverage of the New York Islanders on the web. Our goal is to have at least one of us in the locker room for every home game.

Although Brian, Evan and John are not credentialed, they still work diligently at providing you their views on every game as well as certain hot topics that surround the team. Brian recently wrote a piece about Josh Bailey and how he can learn what it's like to struggle at the start of an NHL career, much like Michael Grabner struggled during his time with the Panthers and Canucks. That blog ended up being retweeted on Twitter by Grabner himself.

This is just one example of the type of content that we will be delivering to you on a day-by-day basis.

A special thanks goes out to George Prax, the owner and editor of The Checking Line as well as his partners Phil and Sam. George recruited me to his staff almost two years ago and I haven't looked back since. His ability to develop the site as well as to reach out and collectively grab several talented writers from all over the league has been down right impressive. In doing so, The Checking Line has grown more and more each month. His determination is the type of work ethic that our Islanders team hopes to embody as we move forward.

I will be responsible for the content that goes up on the Islanders sub-site with the assistance of my team and George. Our Facebook page will have links to all of our stories in addition to other comments and questions. We not only want to inform our readers, but to engage them in discussions about anything that regards the team. We also have recently launched a Twitter page that will link all of our stories as well as provide game updates throughout the season.

Although our team is taking a big step forward in making TCL's Islanders page a new home for Isles fans to read stories and share their thoughts on the team, we are far from finished. We will be looking into adding another writer that can provide coverage of the Islanders' AHL affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and are always looking for new ways to expand our coverage and content.

And last, but certainly not least, a special thanks goes out to you, the reader. We would not be able to take this step forward if it wasn't for the fact that so many of you continue to return to the site on a daily basis to read our blogs. Without you, none of this would be possible. So thank you for sticking with us after all this time.

So keep an eye out tomorrow the official launch of The Checking Line Islanders Edition!
