Isles Need to Catch Lightning in a Bottle in Tampa
The New York Islanders head into Tampa Bay tonight following their disappointing loss in Sunrise, Florida against the Panthers on Tuesday night. The Islanders fell behind quickly in that game and need to get a better start tonight.
The Isles have gotten used to falling behind early and making an epic comeback late in the game. At a certain point, the comeback isn't going to come. The magic will fade away and their poor play early in games will catch up to them as it did last game. The Lightning are a skilled team playing without their best player in Steven Stamkos. They still have many talented players that have the ability to put up big numbers against the Isles. Martin St. Louis is the captain of the Lightning and he always seems to put up numbers against the Islanders.
The Islanders have recently made a roster transaction that has certainly received mixed views from the fans of the team. They have loaned Ryan Strome to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in anticipation of taking defenseman Radek Martinek off the IR. With Travis Hamonic suffering an upper body injury against the Dallas Stars over the weekend, it may be a good thing that Radek has a chance to crack the lineup.
The Lightning beat the New York Rangers in Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night. They have two quality goalies in Ben Bishop and Anders Lindback that could start in net. The Islanders will most likely be starting Kevin Poulin.
The Islanders need to clean up the turnovers and find a way to come out of the locker room with more energy. The early goals against are truly getting old and they need to score first sooner or later.
