Pregame 2/8: Islanders vs. Avalanche

The Islanders will play their final game before the Olympic break tonight against the Colorado Avalanche on Long Island. The Islanders are coming off a 3-2 loss against the Calgary Flames on Tuesday night.

Both Thomas Vanek and Andrew MacDonald are expected to be traded before the trade deadline in March but will be in the lineup on Saturday night. Matt Donovan was sent down to Bridgeport to keep him playing during the long break. Travis Hamonic will be back in the Islanders lineup tonight for the first time in quite a while. He has been on the IR with a concussion.

A familiar face will be at the Coliseum as P.A. Parenteau will make his first return to the Coliseum ice since singing a big contract with the Colorado Avalanche a few seasons ago. He put up big points for the Islanders but they did not feel that he was worth the money that he asking for.

Tonights game will be very interesting to say the least. It is unclear how the crowd will react to the way the team has been talked about around the league. It seems that the Islanders will be huge sellers before the trade deadline and this could be the last game for a few Islanders if a trade is agreed to during the roster freeze.

There is one positive to take away from the game tonight. The Isles will be wearing their beautiful Stadium Series jerseys for the first time since the outdoor game. It'll be excited for fans that were not able to go to Yankee Stadium to be able to see the jerseys in person.

If you're going to the game, enjoy the last one in a while! (And please don't boo)!
